This portrait series is a partnership between Goodwill & District 8’s Councilwoman Shontel Lewis to celebrate sustainability and community in Denver through a series of thrifter portraits. Goodwill of Colorado is dedicated to empowering individuals to overcome barriers to economic and personal independence through education, training, and job placement. Since 1918, they have been a vital resource for more than 150,000 Coloradans annually—including military veterans, seniors, youth, and individuals with disabilities or employment challenges. In 2023 alone, with the help of generous community donations, Goodwill of Colorado kept 208 million pounds of items in the circular economy, preventing them from ending up in local landfills.
Thank you Shontel for your advocacy work in our community and for believing in me and facilitating this portrait project. Thank you Ashley, Landon and Sherri for your lovely support and assistance in making these portraits happen and thank you to everyone who posed for me. The future is sustainable!
